A) You need a webhost to get pages on the web. That%26#039;s what a webhost is, and that%26#039;s really all you need to know. I%26#039;m using Brinkster as my webhost. I learned about Brinkster through a book called : Creating Websites:The Missing Manual.
B) Your webhost will let you choose your domain name. I chose MissingMethods.com. As you can see, it was inspired by the book I read.
C)Use Dreamweaver CS3, because I was in the same position as you 2 months ago, facing the same issues, and that%26#039;s what I am using. It%26#039;s pretty good for people who don%26#039;t know what they are doing!
Let me give you a helpful link to get started:

This link gives you a review of what I just mentioned, but also provides a link to download dreamweaver free, some links to web hosts you might want to look at, links to the book, and a link to a Dreamweaver Tutorial to get you started.

Yes, you can use Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Dreamweaver actually has a built-in FTP client that will allow you to upload your files to your web server.
Godaddy.com is a reliable site you can purchase your domain name from. Most sites have close to the same prices. About $10/yr. for a .com domain address.
Web hosting is where your site will reside online so that your users can view your site. You can usually have your site hosted with the same company you buy/register your domain name with or you can use two separate companies. Pricing depends on several factors including what kind of server (Windows or Linux), Disk space needed, and support.
Reply:If you%26#039;ve never created a web site before, DON%26#039;T create your own business web site. Would you, having never held a paint brush before, create your own sign to hang over the door of your brick-and-mortar store? It probably wouldn%26#039;t make much of an impression on your customers, would it? It would probably cause potential customers to NOT enter.
Same with a web site - if it%26#039;s poorly designed (and that includes computer programming that ANY business site REQUIRES) - customers who come to it will never return.
Are you prepared to write your own secure shopping cart? Get your own certificate (or buy one from your hosting company)? Interface your site with your credit card company (you do take plastic, right)?
How about the database? Are you prepared to write code to interface with that? You%26#039;re not going to keep your products on the web page in html, are you?
Web hosting? The host is the company that owns the computers (and the place they%26#039;re located) that your site code sits on. Will you pay $1,000/month for %26quot;business hosting%26quot;, when you could probably do quite well on a $15/month site?
Consider the cost of having a well-developed site an advertising expense (because that%26#039;s exactly what it is). If you do it yourself, you will (trust me - will, not may) end up paying someone to do it from scratch later down the line, after having wasted a lot of money you thought you%26#039;d saved. Don%26#039;t search for %26quot;web hosting%26quot;, search for %26quot;web design%26quot; or %26quot;web site development%26quot;. The initial consultation should be free, so see what%26#039;s available, and what would take you months, and maybe years, to learn to do right, but which will cost you a l ot less than you probably think..
